In 2022, about 82% of global internet traffic comes from video streaming and downloads. The ongoing reign of TikTok, the rise of Instagram Reels, and the introduction of YouTube Shorts mean only one thing — people just can’t get enough of the video format.
There are numerous studies to back this point:
- According to research by HubSpot, over 54% of consumers are interested in seeing more video content from the brands and businesses they’re buying from.
- In fact, another study by Animoto elaborates on this point, claiming that videos are consumers’ favorite type of content to see from a brand on social media.
- The same study by Animoto also says that 88% of video marketers are pleased with the ROI their social media video content generates.
There’s a good reason for that — video marketing efforts have helped marketers acquire 66% more qualified leads per year and achieve a 54% increase in brand awareness. Moreover, over 93% of marketers claim that incorporating video into their content strategy has helped them land new customers.
So, if you want your business to grow online, you need to double your video marketing efforts and start learning how to edit videos for your brand’s social media.

The best thing about the Video Editor is that the features are simple, easy to use, and flexible enough to help you achieve the exact results you’re looking for!
Now, let’s take a closer look at all the different features the Video Editor offers and learn how to edit videos in VistaCreate.
Key features of VistaCreate’s Video Editor
The arsenal of video editing functionality that VistaCreate offers to its users is going to grow very soon (and we’ll make sure to update this piece with new features as they get released). But you can already make use of the timeline, crop, split, trim, and audio adding features.
More details on each of these features below.
Timeline
Although the timeline is more of hygienic functionality that doesn’t really have much direct impact on the quality of the video you create, it’s definitely an important one.
It provides visibility into working with content and makes the video editing process more intuitive and user-friendly.
The timeline appears as soon as you add video elements to your artboard, either by selecting an animated template to customize or by adding a video from the creative assets library to your static template. It can also be summoned by adding a sound to your project’s pages:
Once you do that, each page becomes an animated block in the video timeline with a visual length that correlates to the video’s duration (each page is between 1 and 60 seconds long).
You can play the video content from any section of the timeline by clicking on it.
Moreover, thanks to the timeline, you can easily manage your video content: move, delete, or preview blocks of content quickly, with a full view of how separate pieces build up your complete storyline. Just drag and drop your way to a perfect arrangement of video clips!
Trim
Ever needed to remove those first seconds of setting your camera up before tuning into the shooting process? Or maybe you just didn’t want some bits of the footage to make it into the final cut? Great news! VistaCreate’s Video Editor has a feature just for that!
An oldie but definitely a goodie, the trim feature allows you to select the exact moments you want to feature in your project.
This feature provides you with moveable sliders to go through the video frame by frame and use the sequence you want to. Just set the sliders at the beginning and the end of the chosen video section and confirm your selection.
You can be as precise with your selection as needed thanks to the Zoom (in time) button:
❗️IMPORTANT❗️The length of the video section you select should be between 1 and 60 seconds.
The trim feature automatically appears whenever you add a video clip to the artboard, but you can always change your mind and access the trimming window later on in the process.
Simply click on the page duration on the timeline or the scissors button at the top of the page:
Split
If you want to split your video into multiple parts and work on individual sections, you can do so in VistaCreate in a matter of seconds — all thanks to the split feature.
Simply move your cursor to where you want to split the video and press the “S” button on the keyboard. You can also do this by hovering over the animated block on the timeline and clicking on the three dots that appear; then, Split.
Split will instantly divide the page into two pages, keeping all the animations, objects, and other design elements (apart from the video, which will be divided into two) intact for both pages.
You can then move the newly created segments around, delete them, or even insert a different clip in between.
🔥 VistaCreate Hot Tip: The split functionality is a great solution for dubbing your videos.
Crop
When working with templates (or even when creating a project from scratch), you might need to fit your video in a specific area within the artboard, only show a section of it, or resize it (e.g., switch to vertical format from horizontal and vice versa) so that your design is more visually appealing.
The crop feature allows you to do so effortlessly! It’s the same as cropping a photo: select the section of the video you need by double clicking (or by clicking on the crop icon in the subheader) and change the format:
Adding audio to video
VistaCreate users have been able to add audio to their projects for a long time now. But here’s an update: you can now adjust the added audio to make it the same length as your video.
To select the desired fragment, click Adjust or double-click the audio track:
